October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we know that breast cancer is the second leading cause of death coming from cancer for Australian women, so it’s fundamentally important for Australian women to check for breast cancer.

As part of that, it’s critical to know that 20% of breast cancer cases come from women under 50, so it can affect women of all ages.

That’s why I’m really thrilled at the initiative of the Australian Breast Care Center led by Dr. Nicole Yap, during October providing free and subsidized services, genetic testing to help find mutations, which could either indicate current or future risk of breast cancer.

So, to protect Australian women, wherever you are, if you can come forwards to be tested, or to make sure that you are testing yourself, and to take initiatives such as the Australian Breast Care Center, all of these things can help save lives and protect lives.
